Social Ghosts

The Little Girl

This story takes place in Port saint Lucie Fla 1994. I was around 33 yrs old married with two children. Me and my Wife had just moved into a new home. Not too big but a two bedroom house with two bathrooms.

On the first night we had family over to show the nice house we just got. everyone was outside just before dark except my brother inlaw Bobby. We were all coming in when he looked stunned that my daughters were outside, he explained he just saw one of them go into the bedroom. I told him he must of had too much to drink. The house seemed fine to me.

A couple of weeks passed and my work kept me out later than usual. Upon arriving home one night I walked in and evry light in the house was on. I proceeded to shut off all the lights except for the kitchen and the television. When morning came I asked my wife why all the lights were on, I proceeded to lecture her as it was tough enough to keep up with the bills. She told me she had seen the ghost Bobby had seen and it was watching over her shoulder and she typed on the computer. She explained she was afraid. I told her she was just tired and bobbies story played on her imagination. The next night when I came home again all the lights were on. We had an argument over it, But she insisted she seen the ghost again in several places. I asked her, How come I haven't seen it? She had no answer.

The lights proceeded to be on every night for weeks, even our babysitter refused to babysit and claimed she had seen the ghost as well after only two short babysitting. One night I fell asleep in the living room and was awoken, i was not sure why but then I heard the toilet flush. The door opened and a little girl stood in the hallway, she looked at me, I half asleep thought it was my daughter. I asked her, Are you having trouble sleeping tonight? she ignored me so I got up and said whats wrong? She turned away from me opened the bedroom door as I walked up on her and shut the door right in my face. I opened the door still feeling groggy but my daughter was in bed asleep. I told her I'm not stupid you just walked in here, your awake. I pulled back her covers and realized she had a completely different outfit on and was really asleep. I could also feel a very cold deep feeling of chills go down my back. I new instantly I had not seen my daughter at all and became fully awake. My other daughter was asleep and snoring. My daughter stirred a little opened her eyes and said what do want daddy, I told her nothing I was just checking on you two and covered her back up and gave her a kiss good night.

For the next couple of months I would fall asleep in the living room because I wanted to be awake but always fell asleep. and every night after that, whenever I slept in the living room I was awoken to see the little girl. I could not figure out why I was the only one who ever woke up to her presence. She never did anything malicious at all. I would ask my daughters if they ever saw a little girl or had an imaginary friend but they never saw her. We only lived in the house one year and when the lease was up we moved. I never told my wife that I was awoken almost every night by the little girl,and I never gave her any more argument about the lights.

I now live only two miles from that house. The thing that bothered me was why was I the only one ever awoken. this was not a partial ghost but a full apparition and she would actively flush the toilet or open and close the doors to go into a room. It was not that scary really, I mean you simply saw a little girl fully dressed in a white and pink long sleeved nightgown use a bathroom or go into the bedroom, sometimes she would watch you, or be watching TV just behind you and other times go look into the refrigerator. That house currently has tenants, I am tempted at times to knock and ask if they have seen her too but do not. I mean they might think I am a sicko or something. I am still wondering Why I was always awoken and no one else, that stumps me to this day.
