When ghost hunting there is a piece of equipment that is really effective at catching some ghostly evidence if done correctly and when all surrounding noises are documented correctly. The tools are not expensive by any means and are generally affordable. That equipment may be the only piece of equipment to actually document paranormal activity on your ghost investigation. That tool is either a Digital Voice Recorder or an analog tape recorder.

These audio recorders give ghost hunters the ability to catch unidentified voices, noises, or are used to back up personal experiences such as unidentified footsteps, knocks, etc. Catching a true EVP that you can hear clearly is really exciting, however not all EVP's are clearly heard and will need some type of software to clean the audio and cut it for evidence analysis.

Most Digital Recorders will come with some type of software, however most of them are generally used just to save the files in different formats and are very limited on what you can do with EVP audio.

So what are you options, especially if you don't have a budget for EVP audio software. So to help you out we have a few free evp programs for you to use to analysis your EVPs.

  • Audacity - Back when I personally started doing EVP sessions, Audacity was the program I initially used. It's easy to use and understand and gives you enough features to get the EVP cleaned and cut. I highly recommend this program for a FREE EVP Software Download Program.
  • Audio Spectrum Analyzer - Nice little spectrum audio software that allows you to analyze the sounds through spectrum's.
  • EVP Assistant v1.0 Noise Generator - This particular piece of software is designed by Mark Andrew Turner of the EVP Research Association UK. This piece of software isn't you typical EVP software tool, however it is a program that you can use through your desktop or laptop to create back noise such as White Noise to experiment with EVP recordings.
  • AoA Audio Extractor Basic - A background audio Extractor.
  • Wavosaur Audio Editor - Another FREE Sound and audio editor. This one is pretty powerful for a FREE EVP Program. It's an excellent choice for FREE EVP Software's.
  • EVP Maker 2.5 Software - Another FREE EVP Program that is an experimental EVP software program for generation of acoustic "raw" recordings of paranormal voices on tape.

As you can see there are plenty of FREE EVP Software programs out there on the web. They all are good enough to get the job done. And there are plenty more out on the web. If you do your research you can find them.
