Our Visit to the Mansfield Reformatory:
The first time we laid eyes on the massive structure of the Mansfield Reformatory was something we will never forget. The building itself is amazing, and is something you don't see everyday. The building layout gives it a intimidating look and feel.
Due to the 2008 Ghost hunt sell out, we were unable to get into the night stay over ghost hunt, so we had to settle for the regular daytime tour, but we didn't care, we wanted inside the building, and if was a tour, we could deal with it. We took the West Tour tour, which lead us through the cell block and all the way back to the west guard tower where we got to go up into. The tower was attached to the back of the building and was about 85 feet in the air. (No camera's or camcorders were allowed in the west tower)
Our tour Guide was pretty informative and did a nice job of telling the mini tales of inmates and other happenings around the locations we visited in the reformatory. I was surprised at how many questions he received from the guests about ghosts and the paranormal activities, he did indeed have some pretty good answers and he himself had a ghostly experience with in the Reformatory walls. Pictures We took as many pictures as we could, most were filled with dust orbs, but we did get one suspicious photo, but we did not catch anything unusual in any of our other photos.
We enjoyed the tour and look forward into returning to the reformatory soon. We would suggest that anyone who has the means to visit the reformatory should do so. It is very interesting location with a lot of history.
